Ok, this song gets one or two extra votes because of the singer’s name – could it be any more 1970’s America than Randy Vanwarmer?
I don’t know why I like this song so much but it is just a great song. Really sad – and the poor bloke is really suffering – and wow, the song really captures his emotions, doesn’t it? Probably not the best song to listen to if you are feeling a bit down, particularly if you find yourself in a similar situation as Randy but … what a great heartfelt song.
And if you prefer a country twist, look out for a version of the song by Dolly Parton, featuring backing vocals from Alison Krauss.
