We kick off with one of the biggest bands of the rock and roll era and one of their earlier tracks. Unlike a significant proportion of my friends, I was never a great fan of U2 as a band – I’m still not – but some of their songs were absolute stand outs. This one is probably my favourite U2 song – certainly from the songs they released in the 1980s – and sets the tone for the remaining 29 songs of this countdown.
