Meet The goFooty.Live team

Here’s your chance to learn a bit about some of the voices you’ll hear on our goFooty.Live broadcasts throughout the year.

As each person joins our broadcast team, they are allocated the next number in the sequence and, at the end of their first season, if they have completed two matches on the team, they are presented with an exclusive goFooty.Live jumper with their number on the back.

Neil has been broadcasting for over eleven years with a mixture of music programs (specialising in 60s, 70s and 80s music) and sports commentary. This includes over 170 games of VFL and VFLW football, including the 2013, 2014 and 2018 VFL and 2018 VFLW Grand Finals and the SANFL vs VFL interstate game from the Adelaide Oval in 2016. He has also been engaged by AFL Victoria to provide commentary to VFL and VFLW Radio and the associated video streams. Since relocating to Geelong in 2015, Neil has also been a contributor to the Bendigo Community Bank Sportsfix program on 94.7FM The Pulse. Rob is a familiar face across the broader Geelong region through his work with the Bendigo Community Bank network and his involvement in local football and cricket clubs and leagues. Rob has a number of years experience in community radio, hosting and calling local football in the Kowree Naracoorte Tatiana Football League in regional South Australia and hosting the That's Life Breakfast and Sportsfix program on Geelong's 94.7FM The Pulse. Rob lives just outside Geelong and is a lifelong supporter of the Cats at AFL and VFL level.

Josh is the up-and-coming star of the goFooty.live team, having qualified with a Bachelor of Journalism (Sports). After some time working as a freelance journalist at the Geelong Advertiser, he is employed as a full-time sports journalist with Leader Newspapers. This training and experience will provide us with great insights regardless of whether Josh is calling the games or providing special comments. Josh cut his teeth as a caller of local football in Geelong (primarily GFL) and was able to call his first VFL & VFLW football in 2018 as a guest commentator with the 94.1FM 3WBC VFL Commentary Team. He has also been a regular contributor to the Sportsfix program on Geelong's 94.7FM The Pulse for the past couple of years. Josh was born in raised in Geelong, attending Belmont High School and so, naturally, is a passionate Cats supporter at AFL, AFLW, VFL and VFLW levels.

Sean Simpson brings some real game experience to the broadcasting team having played 7 games for St Kilda and 114 for his beloved Geelong between 1988 and 1998, including the 1992 AFL Grand Final against West Coast. Sean was the 896th player to represent the Cats, landing between Stephen Hooper and Jamie Lamb on the all-time list of players and 176 places above his son, Sam who proudly runs around in the same number 37 jumper that his dad made famous. Sean will provide a unique perspective to the broadcasts given that he is not only a student of the game but also a past player and the parent of a current one. Sean has been a regular contributor to the Sportsfix program on 94.7FM The Pulse providing commentary about the AFL and VFL.
